HostEurope Performance Probleme Teil 1

Ich habe mich heute mal wieder mit meinem VPS Server bei HostEurope rumgeschlagen!

Das Problem ist dass ich andauernd Performance Probleme habe. Eine meiner Websites macht im Minutentakt Updates auf der Startseite um den aktuellen Stand der Besucher anzuzeigen. Wenn ich mir nach ca. 3 Stunden im Firebug die Liste dieser Anfragen ansehe dann kommt mir regelrecht das k…..! Teilweise dauert eine Anfrage des Status über eine Minute. Das kann doch nicht wahr sein.

Nachdem ich mir die Statistiken und die Log-Files zu gemüte geführt habe werde ich nun ein saftiges Mail an HostEurope schreiben. Jeder normale Webhosting Dienst bietet eine bessere Performance für einen Bruchteil der Miete die ein VPS bei HostEurope kostet!

Habt ihr auch solche Erfahrungen mit Virtualisierte Server oder geht es nur mir so? Vielleicht hab ich da ein System erwischt auf dem ein anderer VPS die meisten Ressourcen für sich beansprucht! Was könnte da sonst noch faul sein?

Bin schon gespannt was HostEurope zu diesem Thema sagt.

Palm Pre comes in June

One of the biggest breaking News this year on the smartphone sector was the introduction of Palm’s new Smartphone Palm Pre.

Sprint Nextel and Palm announced on Tuesday an official release date and pricing for the Palm Pre. The Pre will be available in the US nationwide on June 6 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a two year contract with Sprint. Unfortunately Palm gave no release date for the Pre in Europe.

The launching date is very interesting because two days later Apple will probably gave some Infos about the new iPhone generation. So what would you do? Wait for the Infos of the new iPhone or buy the Palm Pre?

I think the new Palm Pre will rock the smartphone world and Apple has to close up with the new iPhone. They implemented some really cool features in their new WebOS Operating System and continued the feature line Apple started with his iPhone OS.

Push Notifications on iPhone

Apple called registered Developers to test the Push Notification Services. The test App was AP News and the test has a limit of one week.

As a developer actively working with iPhone OS 3.0 beta, we would like your help in testing the Apple Push Notification service. We have selected a pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0 to create a high-volume test environment for our servers.
To participate, we ask that you follow these steps:
1.
Download the pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0 from the iTunes Store via your desktop by entering this unique redemption code in the ‘Redeem’ section of iTunes, found under the ‘Quick Links’ section:

This unique redemption code and the functionality of the application will expire in seven days.
2.
Install the application on a development device running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 by synching it to iTunes. Make sure to accept notifications when prompted after installation. This application can only be installed on devices running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5.
3.
When you first run the app, choose U.S. English as your region when prompted. The U.S. English region will receive alerts, the Canadian English region will not. For purposes of the test, AP will be sending a high-volume of real news alerts.
4.
If you do not receive notifications from the app within 48 hours after installation, let us know.

I think Push Notifications would be a great improvement for iPhone Applications. Instant Messaging or Social Network apps like Twitter and Facebook would be much more intuitiv. When this technique works without problems, background processes would be redundant at all.

Mozilla Fennec 1.0 Alpha

Today i got the Information that a new Version of Mozilla’s Fennec Browser is out. You can also try this Version on a Desktop System with Windows, MacOS or Linux. The Mobile Version of this Browser is currently only available for the HTC Touch Pro Mobile Phone.

I tried it on Windows XP and i allready like this Browser. You can test all the current features like tabbed browsing, loading Plugins and change different settings over about:config!

Windows Mobile 6.5 is finished

Today Microsofts Developer Team of Windows Mobile 6.5 gave us a strange Twitter Notification! The birds told us that the development of Windows Mobile 6.5 is finished. I’m using an iPhone with iPhone OS 2.2 and there are currently no other mobile OS’s which can compete with the penand of Apple. But now the competition seems to be open again.

Hi guys out there,

First i want to welcome you on my new Blog! This will be a new ressouce for everyone who is interested in myself. Here you will get some Infos about my life, my interests, sometimes technicial Infos and of course updates of my Projects.

I’m working at Swarovski in Tyrol (Wattens). My main interests are automation of technical processes. This is a very versatile topic and it excites me every day.

It is really hard to do these kind of things in private so in my leisure time i love to play with JS and all kind Web-Technology. I also love to do sports like swimming, beach volleyball, skiing and i also go to the gym.

Now enough about me, let’s start to publish…. Enjoy it right here…
